Sinema Meets with Seniors, Small Business in Tempe

Congresswoman Stands Up for Medicare and Social Security with Arizona Seniors

Congresswoman Continues Jobs Tour at Tempe Small Business

Tempe – Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema (AZ-09) spent time today in Tempe meeting with constituents, speaking with seniors, and continuing her Jobs Tour as she met with employees of a local small business. Sinema participated in a Congressional forum for Arizona seniors at Friendship Village Tempe, a local retirement community, where she answered questions on a range of issues and discussed her efforts to protect Medicare and Social Security. After the forum, Congresswoman Sinema continued her Jobs Tour with a visit to Blockwise, an innovative Tempe company producing life-saving medical device manufacturing components.

“Every Arizonan deserves a secure retirement,” said Congresswoman Sinema. “We can’t allow the chaos in Washington to threaten the Medicare and Social Security benefits Arizonans have earned through a lifetime of hard work. That’s why I’m working across the aisle to ensure we keep our promises to Arizona seniors.”

Congresswoman Sinema has worked to protect seniors’ ability to retire and access the health care they need. The Congresswoman has voted to protect Medicare and Social Security and opposed attempts to raise the retirement age. She has worked across the aisle to lower prescription drug costs for seniors and reduce the bureaucracy in Medicare. Sinema is also focused on protecting seniors’ financial security with her Senior Safe Act, a recently signed law that protects Arizona seniors’ hard-earned savings from financial fraud and abuse.

“Small businesses like Blockwise are powering our state’s economy and hiring Arizonans for good-paying jobs,” Congresswoman Sinema continued.“The workers I met today are creating innovative products that save lives and help Arizona compete in our global economy. I’m listening to small businesses like Blockwise about how we can work together, cut red tape, and provide our workforce with the skills to land good-paying jobs that drive economic growth across the state.”

As part of her Jobs Tour, Sinema is visiting innovative businesses across the state to learn about the challenges and opportunities they face. In Congress, Sinema has led successful efforts to cut unnecessary regulations that limit economic growth and has cosponsored bills to provide Arizona’s workforce with cutting-edge skills through STEM education, apprenticeships, and educational opportunities for veterans.
