Sinema Introduces Legislation to Support Startups, Create Jobs in Arizona

Washington, D.C. – This week, Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema (AZ-09), Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-21), Congressman Mark Amodei (NV-02), Congresswoman Mia Love (UT-04), Congressman Charlie Crist (FL-13), and Congressman Jared Polis (CO-02) introduced the Jobs in America Act.  This bipartisan legislation provides immigrant entrepreneurs and foreign graduates of U.S. universities with the opportunity to stay in the U.S. if they demonstrate the ability to create jobs and bolster our economy.

“To protect America’s position as a global leader in innovation, tomorrow’s entrepreneurs need every opportunity to build and develop their ideas on American soil,” said Congresswoman Sinema.  “The Jobs in America Act creates high-wage jobs in the United States, spurs private investment and economic growth, and ensures America remains globally competitive."

Under the Jobs in America Act, immigrant entrepreneurs that create jobs, secure financing or generate revenue, are able to appeal and extend their visa for two years and eventually be eligible for legal permanent residency.

The Jobs in America Act is part of Sinema’s Opportunity for Arizona - her commonsense, Arizona-focused plan to create good-paying jobs, strengthen Arizona’s economy, and ensure businesses have every chance to succeed. Read the full plan here
