Sinema Visits Davis-Monthan AFB to Ensure Airmen Have the Tools They Need To Keep Country Safe

Tucson, AZ – Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema (AZ-09) joined base commanders and airmen at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base yesterday to make sure the base has the resources necessary to continue its important national security mission. As part of her visit, Sinema toured the 355th Fighter Wing and other assets and facilities critical to the base’s continued success.

“Keeping Arizonans safe is our highest priority,” said Congresswoman Sinema. “We’re proud of the pivotal role Davis-Monthan plays in our national defense. I’m focused on ensuring the pilots, airmen, and all other servicemembers on base have the tools they need to do their jobs and keep our country safe.”

The Congresswoman was briefed on the long-term challenges Davis-Monthan faces and worked with base leadership on potential solutions to those challenges. She also talked with servicemembers to hear their feedback on improving the base.

Sinema voted to increase troop pay by 2.6% earlier this month and has been a staunch supporter of Davis-Monthan and its servicemembers in bills that fund our national defense. The most recent provisions she helped pass include:

  • $163 million for maintenance and upgrades to A-10 aircraft
  • $22 million for the construction of new facilities on the base
  • $17 million for improvements to A-10 operational systems
  • $15 million for a new Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) facility
