Sinema Votes for the Department of Defense Appropriations Act of 2107

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema voted for the Department of Defense Appropriations Act of 2017 (H.R. 1301), bipartisan legislation to fund the Department of Defense and related military programs for the rest of 2017.

“Our top priority is the safety and security of Arizona families,” said Congresswoman Sinema. “Providing our men and women in uniform with appropriate resources and support is critical to our national security. Today’s bill invests in resources, training, and a well-deserved pay raise for our troops. It also supports Arizona’s defense industry and our commitment to providing innovative technology and training programs, ensuring our military remains the best trained and equipped force in the world. We will continue to reach across the aisle to responsibly fund national defense priorities and give our military the tools they need to keep us safe."

H.R. 1301 provides a 2.1 percent pay raise to our military personnel and funds programs, including Apache helicopter and Joint Strike Fighter. It also funds programs like the Apache helicopter and Joint Strike Fighter, and prevents the retirement of the  A-10 “Warthog” aircraft, all of which are critical to our country’s security and Arizona’s economy.
