Growing Arizona's Economy

Dear Friend,

This week we held an international trade roundtable with local businesses and organizations. The roundtable was designed to facilitate a conversation with stakeholders on the importance of trade to growing Arizona's economy and creating jobs in our state.

More than one in five jobs in Arizona are related to trade. Trade-related employment is one of the fastest growing employment sectors in Arizona. Arizona exports $18.9 billion in goods, $11.9 billion in services, and customers in 211 countries around the globe purchase Arizona goods and services.

We received a clear message from Arizonans that they oppose outdated trade agreements that put our workers at a disadvantage. Most importantly, Arizonans want the opportunity to compete fairly. We support lowering unfair foreign barriers to our exports, and are committed to ensuring that businesses are able to access overseas markets and expand their operations here in the U.S. To accomplish this, American trade agreements must make sense for Arizona.

Trade is critical to Arizona’s economy, and we must work together to enable hardworking Arizonans to succeed in the new and emerging economy. By making the rules of trade clear and fair, we can keep America competitive.

We appreciate the leadership of our partners for the roundtable including, Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the Arizona Technology Council, the Arizona Farm Bureau, the Arizona Manufacturing Council, the Arizona Mexico Commission, the Canada Arizona Business Council, the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, Sun Corridor Inc., the Arizona Hispanic Chamber, the Tucson Hispanic Chamber, and the Phoenix Committee on Foreign Relations.

We are honored to serve in Congress on behalf of Arizona families like yours. We always appreciate hearing from you on current topics and issues that are important to you. If there is an issue that concerns you, please let us know by clicking this link or by calling our Phoenix office: 602-956-2285.
