January Grants Newsletter

This month, Arizona nonprofits, schools and small businesses were awarded over $5.2 million in grants to increase access to community college, expand health care offerings and reduce CO2 emissions.

Congratulations to this month’s grant recipients!

Available grant opportunities include efforts to combat domestic violence, research Alzheimer’s disease, and keep firefighters safe.

New grants continuously become available through various offices of the federal government. Grants Awarded in CD9 and Arizona

Arizona Department of Transportation

Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) awarded $1,606,586 for repair and reconstruction

The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded ADOT a substantial grant to enable the repair and reconstruction of federal-aid highways and roads on federal lands that “have suffered serious damage as a result of natural disasters or catastrophic failures from an external cause.” Eligible work includes repairs to help the flow of essential traffic, minimize damage, protect remaining facilities and facilitate essential repairs.  


Virginia G. Piper Trust

The Maricopa Community College District Foundation awarded $3,000,000 over 36 months

This grant will be used to support the “Achieving a College Education” (ACE) program at four different community colleges.

Mission of Mercy awarded $251,750 over 24 months

This grant will be used to develop a service model for Mission of Mercy and strengthen healthcare offerings across the valley.

UMOM New Day Centers awarded $250,000 over 12 months

This grant will be used to acquire new assets for UMOM’s youth assistance program.

The Arizona Recreation Center for the Handicapped (ARCH) awarded $300,000 over 12 months

This grant will be used to ensure that ARCH has a permanent location by allowing them to acquire and maintain land.

The Phoenix Art Museum Awarded $993,000 over 24 months

This grant will be used to help support a comprehensive digital strategy development, website, and technology upgrades.  

Rosie’s House awarded $185,000 over 36 months

This grant will be used to help the music academy expand their youth services by implementing new fundraising and marketing strategies. 

 

National Science Foundation  

ADVENT Diamond awarded $224,996 for SBIR Phase I: Advancing High-Power Diamond Devices Towards Commercialization 

This grant will be used to research diamond technologies that will enhance the efficiency and reliability of electric vehicles, thus supporting the development of green technology and reduction of CO2 emissions.

FY 2018 Rural Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence and Stalking Program

This grant seeks projects designed to address and prevent sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking in rural jurisdictions.

2018 Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT)

This grant seeks to implement screening, brief intervention and referral to treatment services for adolescents and adults in primary care and community health settings for substance misuse and substance use disorders.
