Congress does not deserve a raise when so many Arizona families struggle to make ends meet. That’s why the first bill we introduced this year was the bipartisan No Raise For Congress Act. This ban on increasing Congress' salary is a commonsense reform that saves tax dollars and puts hard-working Arizona families first.

It is a privilege to serve the residents of Arizona's Ninth District. If there is an issue that matters to you, please let us know by clicking this link or calling our Phoenix office: 602-956-2285. Creating Opportunity for Arizona Families

Just six days into the new Congress, our bipartisan legislation to cut red tape for innovative Arizona startups and small businesses passed the House. This legislation provides a clear path for startup businesses to connect with angel investors and venture capitalists through "demo days" without being subject to oppressive verification requirements. The HALOS Act reduces burdensome regulations to create Arizona jobs and grow our economy.

We introduced bipartisan legislation with Congresswoman Kristi Noem (SD-AL) to stop the Health Insurance Tax and lower costs for Arizona families and businesses. The Jobs and Premium Protection Act is bipartisan legislation that repeals the Affordable Care Act's costly Health Insurance Tax (HIT). If passed, the bill could save Arizona families as much as $400 per year in healthcare premium costs, according to the Joint Committee on Taxation. We are committed to working on both sides of the aisle to provide relief for individuals, families, and employers and increase access to quality, affordable healthcare.

We are continuing our work with the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association (AZHHA) to ensure Arizonans have access to quality, affordable healthcare. Approximately 425,000 Arizonans now have health coverage because of the Medicaid expansion. According to the AZHHA, eliminating the expansion would end coverage for these 425,000 Arizonans and remove $3.2 billion from Arizonan’s economy. We are committed to protecting the Medicaid expansion and working with anyone, even those with whom we don’t always agree, to ensure Arizonans have access to affordable, quality health care.

Fighting for Arizona Veterans

We introduced the WINGMAN Act with Congressman Ted Yoho (FL-03) to give Congressional employees the ability to access VA records in a timely manner and speed up the claims process. Our veterans deserve to access their earned benefits as soon as possible. Long wait times for files and records is unacceptable. This legislation will improve our offices' ability to help Arizona veterans receive the benefits they deserve.

We continued our work to hold the VA accountable and ensure Arizona veterans receive the care and benefits they deserve. We helped William from Mesa resolve his claim with the VA after 13 years of waiting. Also, our constituent Joe from Chandler had waited a year for the VA to pay his ambulance bill. In two months we got the VA to pay the bill. Our team of social workers are here to help veterans and their families. If you need assistance, call our Phoenix office today 602-956-2285. We cosponsored the Protecting Our Democracy Act to protect American elections from foreign attacks. This legislation will create an independent, bipartisan commission to investigate foreign interference in U.S. elections. This legislation will protect Arizonans' voting rights and the security of our country. Open election elections free from foreign interference are fundamental to our American democracy, and attacks must be take extremely seriously and prevented.

We passed the bipartisan Taxpayers Right-To-Know Act with Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-7). This legislation requires the federal government to make public the details and costs of every federal program. Arizonans deserve to know where their hard-earned tax payer dollars are going, and the federal government should be transparent and held accountable for its spending.
