What we've been working on:

This month, we passed bipartisan legislation to fund the government and avoid a disastrous shutdown. This legislation supports programs important to Arizonans and strengthens our economic and national security.

Congress must now come together to find a long-term solution that lowers our deficit and prioritizes the values of today and needs of tomorrow. It is a privilege to serve the residents of Arizona's Ninth District. If there is an issue that matters to you, please let us know by clicking this link or calling our Phoenix office: 602-956-2285. Be sure to stay connected through our Facebook and Twitter accounts, and let us know how we can be of service.

Fixing a Broken Washington

The House of Representatives recently considered and passed H.R. 1628, the American Health Care Act (AHCA). I voted against this rushed and dangerous proposal because it jeopardizes the economic security of hardworking Arizona families. Read more here.

Washington is broken. This month, we introduced legislation with Arizona Congressman Tom O’Halleran to stop wasteful spending and hold Congress accountable. Our No Ongoing Perks Enrichment (NOPE) Act stops pay raises for members of Congress, withholds member pay if they fail to pass a budget, and prohibits first class air travel for members of Congress and their staffs.

Creating Opportunity for Arizona Families

Arizona is home to innovative companies like Ahwatukee’s VisionGate. This month, we heard from employees and updated them on our work to advance biomedical research and ensure innovative companies have the tools they need to thrive.

Through our Kyrsten Means Business program, we visited businesses across the Valley including Landings Credit Union, PING Golf, and Charles Schwab. At each visit, we heard directly from business owners and employees about how we can we work together to create jobs and grow Arizona’s economy.

This month, we held our fifth annual Congressional Art Competition. Congratulations to this year's winner, Brittany Jones! Thank you to our partners and judges, and a special thanks to the Art Institute of Phoenix for providing college scholarships to our winners.

Fighting for Arizona Veterans

This month, our work with Congressman Phil Roe to continue the Veterans Choice Program became law. This is an important step in ensuring all veterans have access to quality, timely care in our community.

May is Military Appreciation Month! Throughout the month, we are honoring and thanking the amazing Arizona servicemembers, military spouses, children, and veterans who sacrifice so much in service to our country. We’ll continue working all year round to ensure our servicemembers and veterans have the support and care they’ve earned and deserve.
