What we've been working on:

This month, the House passed an important bill – the VA Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act. This bill gives the VA Secretary the authority to fire poorly performing employees, improves VA leadership, and protects brave whistleblowers.

We fought for VA accountability for more than three years, and we’re happy to report the bill is now headed to the President’s desk to be signed into law. This is a big win for Arizona veterans and an important step in our work to fix the VA.

It is a privilege to serve the residents of Arizona's Ninth District. If there is an issue that matters to you, please let us know by clicking this link or calling our Phoenix office: 602-956-2285. Be sure to stay connected through our Facebook and Twitter accounts, and let us know how we can be of service.

Creating Opportunity for Arizona Families

This month, we introduced bipartisan legislation to give immigrant entrepreneurs and foreign graduates of U.S. universities the opportunity to stay in the U.S. if they demonstrate the ability to create jobs and bolster our economy. The Jobs in America Act creates high-wage jobs in Arizona, spurs private investment and economic growth, and ensures that America remains globally competitive.

We also introduced bipartisan legislation to help Arizona families prepare and save for parenthood. The Working Parents Flexibility Act is a responsible, commonsense solution to provide new parents with financial certainty during the critical early weeks of parenthood.

Fighting for Arizona Veterans

Hiring delays have led to a shortage of Customs and Border Protection officers and Border Patrol agents. This month, the House passed and we voted for a bipartisan bill introduced by Arizona Congresswoman Martha McSally to expedite the hiring process for qualified and previously-vetted candidates.

We’re working to ensure all Arizona veterans can achieve the American Dream. That’s why this month we introduced the Match Veterans to Student Loan Protections (MVP) Act to streamline student loan benefits for veterans with service-connected disabilities.

Fixing a Broken Washington

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is an important tribute to the more than six million Jews killed in the Holocaust and a critical teaching tool to ensure we never forget. This month, we led a bipartisan group of members to protect funding for this important national asset.

This month, we served Arizonans at Mobile Office Hours in Phoenix. Our July and August Mobile office hours will be held at Tempe History Museum (809 E. Southern Ave, Tempe). You can find more details here. Join us for help with federal agencies.
